Stay With Me

Guess it’s true I am not good at a one nightstand
But I still need love, or at least a glimpse of it
Cause I am simply human- just a simple girl
And these nights never seem to go to plan
They have been a little too cold to bear
A little too dark, I can’t stand the nightmares
I don’t want you to leave just yet
Will you hold my hand?

Oh won’t you, stay with me?
Cause you are seemingly, in this moment, just for the night, all that I need
This ain’t love it is clear to see
Yet this is sadly the closest I will ever come to being loved
But we could get lost in the sadness of the moment
We could find solace in each others misery
So lemme hold your hand
Stay for a little while.

Oh why am I so darn emotional?
I thought I had mastered the art of feigning indifference
No, it’s not a good look, where is my self control?
But you held my hand and reminded me what it is like to breathe
And deep down I know this will never work
But could you lay with me, it will ease the hurt.

Oh won’t you stay with me?
And you will be all I need
This isn’t love, I am not blind not to see
But still darling, you could stay with me
See I know you will never love me
And I know you will never need me in the ways I want to be needed
But you could hold my hand so it doesn’t hurt?
Darling, stay with me?
