The Moon and Its Ocean

Say, when was the last time,
You did something for you?

Something deliberate and intentional,
Like reading a book or taking a long quiet walk
– a quiet mind?

Say, when was the last time you loved yourself?
Like really loved yourself, despite every insecurity,

Every flaw, every mistake, and every regret?

Despite that voice in your head that hisses

And whispers tales of self-doubt and fear?

Despite those parts of you that seem to work against you?

When was the last time you stripped down to your core, realizing that you are only human?
That you are imperfect and sometimes, your demons will win.

Have you embraced your demons – faced your ugliness – the parts of you that you keep on a leash?

What secrets do you keep?

Say, when was the last time,
You did something for you?

Something that made you believe in love,
in magic,
the aligning of the stars and matching of souls,
and everything you dreamt of as a kid?

Something that made you remember who you once were
– a wild fire!
Fierce and untamed.
Dancing against whirl winds and chasing after storms!

Something that made you feel like,
You’re the sun and the stars,
The moon and its ocean?

Something that made you feel like

you were a force?

Say, when was the last time you loved yourself?

I hope that when you look in the mirror,
your strength reflects in those scars you adorn like jewels;
own them!

I hope that the light in your eyes still shines bright

Despite the darkness you’ve waded through.

That even through the storms

your sight never be shifted from your goal.

I hope you realize that your past is just a part of the journey.
Life is for living. In the now.
Be present.
Breathe. Exhale.
Repeat.

Be alive!

Keep breathing.

I hope you realize that everything else
Revolves around you.

I hope you realize

You are everything you’ll ever need.

You’re the universe, darling. โ™ก
